Summer is move out and move in season here in Davis. We are salvaging multiple times a week, picking up things from the streets and by (and often in!) dumpsters that are perfectly usable. We make every effort to minimize what ends up going to the landfill!
Past years have taught us that we get mountains of clothes and linens that need to be laundered before we offer them for sale.
We also find home goods that need some cleaning.
Last year, some folks volunteered to pick up laundry- anywhere from one load occasionally- to more on a regular basis, and this really helped get things moving.
Other folks offered to be available, to come in at the last minute when the shop was overloaded with things to be cleaned or shelved.
We also would love if someone out there in our community would coordinate the volunteer help over the summer. It would be such a gift!
